My name is Salama. I am in Standard One and I go to Steven Tito Academy. I am going to tell you about my day.
I get to school at 8:00. I take the bus to school with 12 other students.
Here I am arriving at school |
Singing the morning song |
Every morning we read with our teacher. We choose a book from the bookboxes and the teacher helps us sound out the words. We take the book home to practise.
Reading with my teacher |
Reading out my spelling words |
Now, I am working with my group. We are practising the letters of the alphabet. I closed my eyes and chose a letter. I felt the letter and guessed which letter it was. Now my partner Maimuna is telling me if I was right.
Playing 'Feely letters' |
After reading and writing it is time for break. We have break at 10:30. We drink porridge and then we have 20 minutes to play.
We start Maths at 11:00. This week we are learning about time. I am learning the word 'o'clock'. We all listen to our teacher and then we split up into small groups.
This is how you show 2 o c'lock on a clock. |
At 1:30 it's time for lunch. We sit in a big banda to eat our lunch together. After we eat we have to wash our plates and stack them ready for tomorrow.
Eating lunch in the banda. Today we are having potato, cassava and tomato. |
Here I am skipping. |
